Kelowna police nab Tim Hortons break-in duo

KELOWNA – Police in Kelowna recovered stolen property after arresting a man and a woman allegedly responsible for a break-in at a Tim Hortons on the weekend.

RCMP say on Sept. 8 at 12:32 a.m., police received a report of a commercial break and enter at the Tim Hortons located on Powick Road in Kelowna. The front glass door of the restaurant had been smashed when police arrived. Officers found no one inside the building after clearing the premises.

“Once inside the suspects seemed to focus their attention on the tills,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release. “It is alleged the suspects fled the scene with multiple cash drawers and an undisclosed amount of cash.”

Police located a suspect vehicle in the parking lot of shopping mall in the 2200 block of Harvey Avenue. A man and a woman, believed to be responsible for the break and enter, were taken into police custody without incident. The stolen cash drawers and cash were also located and seized by police.

A 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, each of no fixed address, now face charges. Both are expected to appear in Kelowna court on Dec. 4, 2018.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
