Buffalo Bills fans, players pay tribute to late owner Ralph Wilson during public remembrance
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – With hundreds of pictures and mementos spread throughout the Buffalo Bills fieldhouse honouring late owner Ralph Wilson, Bruce Smith couldn’t resist bringing one more.
The Hall of Fame defensive end pulled out a photo taken the day he signed his rookie contract in 1985. It showed Wilson with his hands across his face as if he were praying.
Smith called the picture one of his “special memories.”
There were many to go around Saturday, during a public remembrance celebrating Wilson’s life and legacy.
With Frank Sinatra — Wilson’s favourite — playing over the loudspeaker, and an array of photos, trophies and souvenirs on display, Bills former and current players, employees and thousands of fans paid their respects to the team’s founder, who died on March 25.
