Canadian women defeat Figi 26-5 to finish 3rd at sevens cup in China

GUANGZHOU, China – Canada finished in third place at the China rugby women’s sevens Cup after beating Fiji 26-5 in Sunday’s final.

Captain Jen Kish’s team surprised many this weekend with wins over England and Russia.

New Zealand defeated Australia 26-12 Sunday to claim victory in Guangzhou.

The win moved New Zealand to the top of the Women’s Sevens World Series standings, with one round left to play next month in Amsterdam.

Canada heads into the final round in third place in the standing with 64 points.

New Zealand leads with 76 points, two more than second place Australia.
