Sale on adoptable cats and kittens

KAMLOOPS – Starting Monday, you can adopt a cat or a kitten at the B.C. SPCA shelter in Kamloops for 50 per cent off.

Sara Gerow with the shelter says their facility is coming out of a ringworm quarantine and now have several animals cleared for adoption.

“The cats and kittens in particular have been through a lot with the quarantine and treatment so now that they are healthy and can be adopted out, we would like to get them into homes as soon as possible,” Gerow says in a media release.

The half price adoption promotion will run until Nov. 30, 2014.

With winter coming and the temperatures dropping, the SPCA is encouraging people who are thinking of adopting a cat to take advantage of the campaign which is also aimed at bringing as many homeless cats as possible in from the cold.

“When a cat or kitten is adopted from our shelter into a loving home, it frees up space to bring another cat in from the cold, so people are helping us to save two lives at once,” Gerow says. 

The adoption fee includes vaccinations, spaying or neutering, permanent ID, any necessary medical care, and internal and external parasite treatment, she says. Plus, the staff at the shelter provide adoption counseling and to ensure animals go to a good home.
