Sports talk radio show to debut focused on issues involving LGBT athletes

NEW YORK, N.Y. – SiriusXM is debuting a weekly sports talk radio show focused on LGBT issues.

“The Outfield” will premiere Sunday on the OutQ channel on the satellite radio service.

Host Eddie Robinson envisions a mix of news analysis, features and listener call-ins. One of the guests for Sunday’s program is Sheryl Swoopes, the women’s basketball star who at one time was the most recognizable athlete to come out in a team sport. The college coach at Loyola of Chicago later became engaged to a man.

The premiere will open with discussion of UMass guard Derrick Gordon’s announcement Wednesday that he is gay — just the latest example of LGBT issues intersecting with sports.
