Friend of teen killed in interstate shootout arrested

ATLANTA – Authorities say the bullet that killed a man in a shootout on Interstate 20 just east of Atlanta last week came from inside his own vehicle.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://on-ajc.com/1UPnLE3 ) reports that DeKalb County police said Monday officers investigating the shooting found 19-year-old Jonathan Williams of Villa Rica dead in his vehicle on June 7. Police said witnesses interviewed said the shots may have come from a small, red vehicle.

Fore said Monday the medical examiner revealed Williams died from a gunshot from inside his vehicle and fired by the front seat passenger.

Fore said Terrance Elane, Williams’ friend and passenger, left the scene. He was arrested Saturday on multiple charges, including felony murder.

He was being held Monday in the DeKalb jail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
