Surrey man arrested in Enderby after concealing his name

After attempting to hide his identity, a 42-year-old man from Surrey is facing a number of charges following arrest in Enderby Jan. 11.

The man was stopped by police on Highway 97B  near Mayfair Rd., and it was soon discovered that his vehicle, a blue Ford Bronco, sported a stolen license plate.

"At first the man falsely identified himself to our officer," Gord Molendyk, Spokesperson for the RCMP, said at a press conference Monday.

Eventually, after a bit of questioning, the man revealed his identity.

"This caused the man further problems as he had outstanding warrants out of Surrey," Molendyk said, adding they included two charges of failing to comply with a probation order. 

The man was arrested for possession of stolen property, obstructing a peace officer, and driving while prohibited. A small amount of drugs was also seized by RCMP. The man was issued violation tickets for not having insurance or a vehicle license, and was also given a seven day vehicle impound notice.

Though the vehicle's plate was confirmed as stolen, officers are continuing to investigate whether or not the Ford itself was also stolen.

The man will appear in Vernon court Monday, Jan. 14.
