Trial date set in Van Diest murder

The man accused of murdering an Armstrong teen a year and a half ago will stand trial in a year.

Matthew Stephen Foerster, 27, will appear before a judge and jury in early March of 2014 in Kelowna Supreme Court.

Foerster is charged with the murder of Taylor Van Diest, 18.

Van Diest was brutally beaten and left for dead Halloween night, 2011. She succumbed to her injuries Nov. 1 in Kelowna General Hospital.

A few months later, Foerster, of Cherryville, was arrested in Ontario for her murder.

His trial was slated to begin this year, but was delayed due to Foerster changing his counsel multiple times.
