No Biebs or Bieliebers at star’s latest Toronto court hearing on assault charge
TORONTO – A routine Toronto court hearing on an assault charge Justin Bieber faces in the city wrapped almost as soon as it began on Monday, without the Canadian singer or any of his fans present.
His last court proceeding, which took place a month ago, had drawn about two dozen fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the pop sensation, despite his lawyer saying Bieber wouldn’t attend.
Monday’s court session saw lawyers provide additional disclosure in the case and decide to re-appear in court on May 12.
Bieber’s lawyer has said the singer isn’t expected at any of the court sessions until a trial date, which likely won’t be set until the fall.
Police allege Bieber hit a limousine driver several times in the back of the head after he and five others were picked up by a limo in the early hours of Dec. 30.
Bieber turned himself in to Toronto police in January to face the charge, drawing a crowd of jostling journalists and deliriously screaming fans.
