Idaho early 5-2 favourite for Pattison Canadian International turf event

TORONTO – Three-year-old Idaho is the early 5-2 favourite for the $1-million Pattison Canadian International turf event.

Idaho drew the No. 3 post Thursday at the race draw and will be ridden by Ryan Moore, who had won this 1 1/2-mile race the last three years.

Trainer Aiden O’Brien has won this event on two prior occasions.

Duane Ward, the former Toronto Blue Jays reliever, served as guest drawmaster.

Protectionist, the 3-1 second choice, will break from the No. 9 post Sunday in the nine-horse field at Woodbine Racetrack.

Dartmouth, owned by Queen Elizabeth II, is the 7-2 third pick and drew the No. 5 post. Trainer Sir Michael Stoute chases a third straight race win and fourth overall.

The field consists of four European horses, four from the U.S. and Woodbine-based Danish Dynaformer, who will start from the No. 1 post.
