LAKE COUNTRY – Employees at Canada Post called in the Mounties this morning to find out if a beeping parcel was a bomb.
The RCMP received the call about 7:40 a.m. and were told by employees of the postal service a beeping noise was coming from a book-sized parcel. Before the cops arrived, employees moved the parcel outside to the rear of the Post Office, located at 3211 Berry Road. The post office is next door to the police station.
It turns out the suspicious parcel was a normal alarm clock, mailed legitimately to a resident of Lake Country.
The RCMP would like to remind anyone finding a suspicious package to clear the area of people and leave the parcel where it is found. If it is a legitimate device, movement could set it off.
