WILD WEDNESDAY: How to respectfully watch bighorn sheep in the Southern Interior

Breeding season is just around the corner for bighorn sheep across the province, and although it's an amazing sight to see, people are being reminded to watch from a distance.

WildSafe B.C. says in this week's Wild Wednesday episode that using binoculars, spotting scopes or a long lens on your camera will help you safely observe the animals.

Much of the action can be seen from the safety and comfort of your vehicle, WildSafe says. If you do get out to hike and take pictures, respect the sheep. If they move away from you let them go because it likely means you've gotten too close.

WildSafe adds that a good tip is to set yourself up in advance of the sheep and let them come to you, that way they will set what they feel is an appropriate distance to keep between them and you.
