Dwyer’s 2 goals power Sporting KC to 4-0 win over Impact and share of Eastern Conference lead

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Dom Dwyer scored two goals in the second half, giving him four in his last four matches, and Sporting Kansas City moved into a share of the Eastern Conference lead with a 4-0 victory over the winless Montreal Impact on Saturday night.

Dwyer scored in the 74th minute and the 86th for Sporting (3-1-2), which is unbeaten in its last five matches and tied with Columbus atop the East.

Aurelien Collin also scored for Kansas City with a left-footed shot just inside Troy Perkins’ left post in the 71st.

Montreal (0-4-3) fell behind 1-0 in the 31st minute when midfielder Calum Mallace headed a throw-in into his own net.

Eric Kronberg needed to make just two saves to record his third shutout of the year for Kansas City.
