Cow on the loose in Kamloops put down by RCMP

KAMLOOPS – Police in Kamloops put down a cow that was on the loose in Kamloops today.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says at roughly 3 p.m. today, Oct. 2, officers were notified there was a cow on the loose in Sahali neighbourhood.

The cow had earlier escaped from a trailer that was a local veterinary clinic. The veterinarian followed the cow and told officers of its location.

Shelkie says the cow was located near the South Thompson River near the Powwow grounds, and on the advice of the veterinarian, the officer put the cow down at roughly 3:30 p.m.

No one was injured by the cow, and it was put down in an area that was away from people and buildings, she says.

No word on why the cow had to be put down.
