ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues rewarded head coach Ken Hitchcock on Thursday.
Hitchcock, who guided St. Louis to its first 100-point season since 2001 and was named the NHL’s coach of the year, agreed to a contract extension with the Blues.
He remains under contract with the club through the 2013-’14 season with an option for 2014-’15
The Blues hired Hitchcock on Nov. 6, 2011 and he led the club to a 49-22-11 record and its first playoff series win since 2002.
Hitchcock became the franchise’s fourth winner of the Jack Adams Award joining Joel Quenneville (2000), Brian Sutter (1991) and Red Berenson (1981).
