Woman charged with committing hoax in Edmonton terrorist plot claim

EDMONTON – Alberta RCMP say they’ve charged a woman following a claim that a man was plotting a terrorist act in Edmonton

The Mounties say information about a terrorist threat was recently sent in an email to a Canadian Forces office in Toronto.

Officers with the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team began investigating the email last Thursday.

They determined the information was fake.

Hanna Bedhiafi, who is 23, is charged with committing a hoax regarding terrorist activity — a rare offence in the Criminal Code.

The Edmonton woman has been released on bail and is to appear in court on May 9.
