Two men injured after natural gas plant leak and blast near Fort St. John, B.C.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Two men have been injured after a natural gas leak and flash fire at a pipeline compressor station about 160 kilometres northwest of Fort St. John, B.C.

A Transportation Safety Board investigator is being deployed to the Spectra Energy Transmission site, where the incident occurred Saturday.

Company spokeswoman Rosemary Silva says the two employees were doing maintenance work at the plant’s compressor station when they were hurt.

She says one man was treated and released from a local hospital while another was transported to the burn unit at Vancouver General Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

The company gathers, processes and transports natural gas.
