Pedestrian hit while crossing the street downtown

KAMLOOPS – A female pedestrian was struck by a male driver while she was crossing 3 Avenue and Columbia in the crosswalk around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The 74-year-old male driver was turning left when the 43-year-old woman was struck according to an RCMP press release. The woman was taken to Royal Inland Hospital across the street to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Cheryl Bush says the driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

  1. Why hasen’t the goverment pulled in the drivers that are 55 plus for a road test. I would be glad to take a test to see if I am still fit to drive. To many people are getting hit and even in the crosswalks. We need change. Now we have a new council how about getting the lead out and doing something?
