Rescue crews comb Strait of Georgia looking for missing man after boat capsizes

VICTORIA – The province’s Joint Rescue Command Centre is continuing its search for a missing man after a boat capsized Saturday night.

Maritime co-ordinator Paul Tasker says a 16-foot power vessel carrying one man and a woman capsized near Texada Island in the Strait of Georgia.

Tasker says the woman swam for hours to reach the shores of Texada Island and was hypothermic when rescue crews reached her.

He says her current condition is unknown.

Tasker says flight crews will continue to to survey the area for the missing man.
