Gare du Nord trains resume service after fire scare
PARIS – Rail services have resumed at Paris’ Gare du Nord train station after a small fire caused by vandals caused disruption to the transport network.
The SNCF national rail service resumed service late Tuesday night after the evening fire that it said was caused by an unexplained “malicious incident.”
Some Eurostar trains were cancelled Tuesday and the company that operates across the English Channel said further trains Wednesday might be delayed or cancelled because of the knock-on impact.
The Tuesday incident came amid nationwide jitters following a truck attack in Nice last week that killed 84 people and was claimed by the Islamic State group, the third major attack in France in 18 months.
Trains to Brussels, Amsterdam and other international destinations also leave from the Gare du Nord.
