Husband of Manitoba judge being investigated over nude photos dies of cancer

WINNIPEG – The husband of a Manitoba judge being investigated over sexually explicit photos has died.

The family of Jack King says he died early this morning after a short battle with cancer.

King’s wife, Lori Douglas, has been the subject of a Canadian Judicial Council inquiry over nude photos that were posted on the Internet more than a decade ago, before she was appointed a judge.

Douglas was accused of sexually harassing a man named Alex Chapman and not revealing the existence of the photos when she was screened for a position on the bench.

Douglas’s lawyer denied the allegations and King said he had posted the photos without telling his wife.

The inquiry started in 2012, but has been stalled by the resignation of the lead lawyer and accusations that the panel hearing the matter has displayed bias against Douglas.

There is no word on when it might resume.
