Meet your CORD elected directors

Only two directors are elected in the Central Okanagan Regional District.

With the east area being acclaimed, the vote was down to two candidates, and incumbent Wayne Carson won with 58.2 per cent of the votes against John Micheal Cole with 41.8 per cent.

Not a lot of turn out on the voters part. CivicInfo says there are 10,987 eligible voters in the area but it only took 292 votes to elect Carson. Cole received 210.

The CORD is made up of two unincorporated electoral areas and the four municipalities of Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland and Lake Country. The district's website says it provides basic services such as recreation, park facilities, sewer and garbage collection to homes and businesses located within the electoral areas. The district is also responsible for a wide range of regional services such as 9-1-1 and recycling for the member municipalities.

Here's who has been elected to sit on the board of directors:

Central Okanagan West Electoral Area Wayne Carson (incumbent) 292

One director has been acclaimed:

Central Okanagan East Electoral Area Mark Bartyik

The remaining 12 spots will be appointed by the cities of Kelowna, and West Kelowna, as well as the districts of Peachland and Lake Country. One non-voting member is appointed to represent Westbank First Nation.
