Realtor, kids and a council candidate take home prizes for Vernon’s first annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-In

VERNON – Today was the first annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-in put on in Vernon.

The Tourism Vernon Facebook page reports nine participants in the inagural event today, Oct. 20.

Taking the first, second, and third place spot was local realtor John Deak. He won a total of $900 for his three pumpkins weighing in at 255, 245, and 243 lbs. 

City council candidate Dalvir Nahal won $100 for her 131 lbs pumpkin.

Finally in the youth category Cody and Jacob Baird won a total of $125 for their two pumpkins weighing 55 lbs each.

The contest was a collaboration between Tourism Vernon and Davidsons Orchards.
