Kelowna RCMP search for suspect in failed robbery attempt

KELOWNA  – Police are searching for witnesses in a suspected robbery near downtown Kelowna.

On Oct. 21 shortly after 12 p.m., police say in a news release they received a report of a robbery attempt near the intersection of Manhattan Drive and Sunset Drive. Police were told that shortly after 11 a.m. an unknown male suspect approached a woman and pushed her to the ground from behind.

“The unknown Caucasian male in his 40s with a medium build, seen in all black, had allegedly tugged on the victim’s purse,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the news release. “The victim refused to let go of her purse and the suspect reportedly fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.”

Police say the victim sustained minor injuries during the incident.
