KAMLOOPS – A local man is celebrating after matching all seven numbers and winning $1 million.
Darcey Hickey from Kamloops discovered he had a winning Lotto Max ticket from a July 6 draw, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release.
“I was at Northills Centre and was using the self-checker and was scanning 20 tickets and it was like 'Free Play, $1, $20 and then $1,000,000?!'” Hickey says in the release. “I was in absolute shock, I didn’t think it was real.”
Hickey says he will have more time to enjoy his hobbies including fishing and coin collecting. He is also thinking of getting a new car, the lottery corporation says.
Hickey had the ticket in his wallet for more than three months before he checked it.
