Kamloops RCMP examining possible suspect vehicle in deadly hit and run
KAMLOOPS – Police have seized a vehicle that matches the description of a car that was involved in a deadly hit and run over the weekend.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says they have seized a silver Dodge Neon SX 2.0 four-door sedan but cannot confirm it is the suspect vehicle.
"It's under forensic identification examination," Shelkie says, adding that if DNA is found on the vehicle it could take up to three months to confirm.
Police say on Oct. 20, at 1:40 a.m., a taxi driver contacted the Kamloops RCMP to report he had come across a man injured and lying on Seymour Street near the B.C. Lottery Corporation Building.
Officers on scene requested an ambulance and life-saving measures were taken but the man, 48, later died from his injuries at the hospital, police say.
The driver did not stop or remain at the scene, but video surveillance captured the vehicle after it struck the man.
The vehicle was a Dodge Neon SX 2.0 four-door sedan either grey or silver in colour.
