North Okanagan RCMP make multiple arrests in undercover drug trafficking operation
VERNON – More arrests have been made in Vernon in connection to an undercover operation targeting drug trafficking.
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP Targeted Policing Unit completed an investigation that started in the spring and recently made six more arrests and laid nine counts of drug trafficking.
Nine men, all from Vernon, are facing charges for allegedly trafficking a heroin and fentanyl mixture and fentanyl, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Oct. 25.
Johanna Pauliuk, 43, currently remains outstanding and is wanted for two counts of drug trafficking, police say.
“This project was very successful in that it targeted street-level drug trafficking. We specifically targeted the sale of fentanyl, which is causing a significant public safety risk,” RCMP Sgt. David Evans says in the release. “All the drugs purchased by the undercover operators were fentanyl or fentanyl mixed with heroin.”
Back in July, RCMP made three arrests as part of the same investigation.
