Fireworks hedge fire leads RCMP to weed

WEST KELOWNA – A Halloween night fireworks accident in West Kelowna led RCMP to a bunch of marijuana shortly after 7 p.m.

Approximately four kilograms of dried marijuana bud and 70 kilograms of fresh trimmings were located behind the hedge of a Glenford Road residence after the homeowner accidentally shot a firework into his hedge. The ensuing fire brought West Kelowna firefighters as well as RCMP and a 48-year-old man was arrested for production of marijuana.

The man, who is the owner of the residence, was also issued a Bylaw ticket for failing to have a permit to use fireworks.

No one was injured.
