Small community near Enderby no longer isolated following road clearance

ENDERBY, B.C. – A small community near Enderby, B.C., is no longer isolated after North Okanagan cleanup crews cleared a road shut down by a mudslide.
Power lines are also back up after water and debris swept down Cooke Creek on Friday, washing out a road and bridge.
District authorities spent the weekend flying in water and satellite phones to the community connected by Mabel Lake Road.
BC Hydro spokesman Dag Sharman said four power poles came down and about 700 customers lost power.
David Sewell, a spokesman for the North Okanagan Regional District, said the summertime influx of seasonal residents has not yet occurred so the washout cut off only about 200 people. (Global Okanagan, The Canadian Press)
