Security official says 4 aid workers kidnapped from Kenyan refugee camp are released, safe

NAIROBI, Kenya – A security official says four aid workers kidnapped by gunmen from a refugee camp in Kenya have been released and are safe.

The four workers from the Norwegian Refugee Council were kidnapped by gunmen from Dadaab refugee camp near the border with Somalia on Friday. A Kenyan driver was killed during the attack.

The four were then believed to have been taken into Somalia. The security official said he could not be quoted by name because the information hadn’t been released publicly.

A spokesman for the Norwegian Refugee Council, Rolf Vestvik, said he could not comment, but expected to issue a statement within the hour.
