College in US on lockdown after shooting reported; no further details

AUGUSTA, Georgia – Officials in the U.S. say a reported shooting has led to a college campus being closed and locked down.

Local media outlets report that authorities are also investigating a Sunday shooting on the campus of Paine College in Georgia.

University spokeswoman Tonya Williams says the school is working with law enforcement officials to investigate what happened Monday.

No more details were immediately available, and a call to the Richmond County sheriff’s department wasn’t immediately returned.

Paine College’s website says the private school has just over 800 students.
