Veteran offensive lineman Flory expected to retire after 15 CFL seasons

MONTREAL – It appears Scott Flory is hanging up his cleats.

The Montreal Alouettes will hold a news conference Wednesday, when the veteran lineman is expected to announce his retirement.

Flory, 37, became the new president of the CFL Players’ Association in late March and is participating in talks with the league on a new collective bargaining agreement.

The Regina native spent 15 campaigns with the Alouettes — earning CFL all-star honours nine times — but suffered a season-ending biceps tear July 12 in a game against the Calgary Stampeders.

Twice the CFL’s top lineman (2008 and 2009), the six-foot-four, 296-pound Flory helped Montreal register three Grey Cup victories (2002, ’09 and ’10).

The Alouettes selected Flory in the third round, 15th overall, in the ’98 CFL draft out of the University of Saskatchewan. He attended training camp before returning to the Huskies, helping them win the Vanier Cup that season.
