Person with knowledge of deal tells AP that Raptors coach Dwane Casey agrees to 3-year deal

A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey has agreed to a new three-year contract.

The agreement was reached on Monday, one day after the Raptors lost Game 7 to the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The person requested anonymity because the team has not announced the deal.

Casey led the Raptors to a surprising 48-34 record and the Atlantic Division title in his third season with the team. His job status was tenuous when the season began after general manager Masai Ujiri was hired away from Denver. But the Raptors’ performance helped convince Ujiri that Casey was the right man for the job.
