Hassan Yussuff elected new head of Canadian Labour Congress

MONTREAL – The Canadian Labour Congress has a new president for the first time in 15 years.

Hassan Yussuff defeated incumbent Ken Georgetti by 40 votes in an election today at the organization’s convention in Montreal.

Georgetti was first elected in 1999 and went on to become the labour group’s longest-serving president.

Yussuff was the CLC’s secretary-treasurer and had held the position since 2002.
