Denver urges symphony orchestra to cancel bring-your-own-marijuana concerts
DENVER – The city of Denver is urging the Colorado Symphony to call off a series of marijuana-themed fundraising concerts.
The events are strictly BYOC — Bring Your Own Cannabis. But The Denver Post reported that the Denver City Attorney has warned the orchestra that the events still violate state laws against public consumption of marijuana.
The series is sponsored by some of the state’s marijuana businesses and is scheduled to start with a concert at a private art gallery on May 23. Concert-goers were to be allowed to smoke at a separate area of the gallery.
Colorado continues to adapt to being one of the first two U.S. states to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.
