Vernon council members selected for regional district, GVAC

VERNON – Along with taking their oaths of office, the freshly elected Vernon city council will be doing some business at their inaugural meeting tonight.

Appointments for the regional district and Greater Vernon advisory committee are on the agenda along with the ceremony for the swearing in of the mayor and council tonight, Nov. 5.

City spokesperson Nick Nilsen says the appointments are coming early this time around as there are meetings scheduled for both the Regional District of the North Okanagan and the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee before the newly elected council is have a regular meeting on Nov. 13.

The appointees were chosen by mayor-elect Victor Cumming.

Nilsen says there are several factors to take into account when choosing who sits on these boards, including a councillor's experience and the time they are able to commit to the added responsibility.

The following members of council are to be appointed to the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee:

The following members of council are to be appointed to the Regional District of North Okanagan board:

The inaugural meeting starts at 7 p.m. today, Nov. 5, in council chambers.
