Canada Post rotating walkouts hit Kamloops, Vernon, Penticton

KAMLOOPS – The Canadian Union of Postal Workers rotating strikes have spread to several B.C. Interior cities today, including the Thompson-Okanagan region.

Canada Post workers are off the job in Kamloops, Penticton and Vernon, according to the union's website.

The union represents 50,000 postal employees across Canada and began rotating strikes last month to pressure Canada Post into contract changes over health and safety, precarious work and equality for rural and suburban mail carriers.

The two parties have been bargaining for separate contracts for rural and urban carriers for the last 10 months.
