PENTICTON – Cooler weather is shifting activities indoors this weekend but there is still a lot to do in Penticton and the South Okanagan.

Remembrance Day observances are being held in most South Okanagan and Similkameen communities this Sunday. Go here for a complete list.

The 22nd annual soup bowls competition is a two night soup extravaganza where you can come and choose your own hand-made bowl and taste a selection of soups crafted by local restaurants who compete for prizes.

The competition takes place Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Penticton Art Gallery. Tickets are on sale at the Penticton Art Gallery at $45 for one evening and $80 for both evenings. Non-members pay an additional $5 per night.

The third annual Campaign for Real Ale South Okanagan hosts a home brewers competition on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Tin Whistle Brewing Company.

Home brewers make their best beers for beer lovers to try. The top three beers win prizes, with the winner of the Judges’ Choice award winning the opportunity to brew a commercial batch of beer with Tin Whistle Brewing.

There is no charge for this event, but donations will be collected to cover event costs. Call 250-488-0878 for more information. Food will be available for purchase. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Tin Whistle Brewing.

The Penticton Farmers' Winter Market is operating out of the Shatford Centre from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. You’ll find fresh farm vegetables and fruits, eggs, honey, baking preserves and handmade crafts, with no admission cost. There will also be a selection of local liquor vendors each Saturday between now and Christmas.

Summerland Community Arts Council presents Friday Night Live, an evening of music, wine and good company as Judy & the Diamonds entertain on Friday, Nov. 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The trio entertains with hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s in addition to a Patsy Cline tribute. Cost is $10 at the door, music starts at 7 p.m. Call 250-494-4494 for more information.
