RCMP spokesperson shakes head at recent car crash

VERNON – Bad driving led to a needless accident last week.

Around 7 p.m. Oct 28, a Vernon mother and her 12-year-old daughter were turning right into the parking lot of the Esso gas station on 32 Street when they were struck by a vehicle trying to squeeze around them.

“The victim and witnesses told police that they saw a late model Mazda Presidia attempting to pass on the right hand side (where) it struck the green Toyota Echo,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says.

The suspect vehicle then took off through the ESSO parking lot and was last seen heading east on 33 Avenue.

The mother and daughter were examined by Emergency Health Services and left with a friend. The vehicle was severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Anyone who might have witnessed this accident or knows about it is asked to call the Vernon RCMP or  Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
