TORONTO – Actor Alan Thicke will receive the Canadian Award of Distinction at this year’s Banff World Media Festival.

The 67-year-old former “Growing Pains” star will receive the honour at the Rockie Awards Gala on June 10.

A seven-time Emmy nominee, Thicke’s recent credits include a recurring role on “How I Met Your Mother” and his new reality sitcom hybrid “Unusually Thicke.”

Past recipients of the Canadian Award of Distinction include Martin Short, Howie Mandel and Will Arnett.

The four-day festival will be held at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel from June 8-11.

In a statement, Thicke said he was “truly honoured” to be chosen.

“Both as an actor and a proud Canadian, I am humbled to be joining such a prestigious and talented group of individuals,” he said.
