Records fall as California swelters through another day of heat wave

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – California has sweltered through another record-breaking day in the midst of a spring heat wave.
More than a dozen cities on Wednesday broke or tied high temperatures for the date.
It was 37 degrees Celsius in downtown Los Angeles, breaking the old record of 35.5 set 124 years ago.
San Diego’s 34 beat the high of 30.5 set in 1956, and downtown San Francisco’s 31 was a degree above the 1922 record.
Airports in Long Beach and Camarillo topped 38 degrees.
Coastal regions were often hotter than inland, with highs in the 30s.
A high-pressure system is expected to produce more scorching weather through Thursday, along with gusty and erratic winds.
The National Weather Service says red flag conditions of extreme fire danger will continue in many Southern California.
