MIAMI – A Florida woman pleaded guilty to running over a federal agent and fleeing the scene and faces up to 50 year in prison at sentencing next month.
The Miami Herald reported that 23-year-old Jordana Rosales of Coral Gables told Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Michael Hanzman on Thursday that she wanted to take responsibility for the January 2016 death of Homeland Security Investigations Agent Scott McGuire.
Rosales pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death and reckless driving. Prosecutors dropped additional DUI manslaughter charges.
The 41-year-old agent’s widow, Suzy Rivera, said after the hearing that Rosales had made “bad choices.”
Miami Beach Police said McGuire had been on duty and was hailing a taxi when Rosales drove her car up onto the sidewalk and struck him.
