Down with a virus, Paul McCartney cancels Tokyo concert at last minute, adds extra performance

TOKYO – Paul McCartney has cancelled a Tokyo concert after coming down with a virus, but has added a performance to make up for the loss.

The former Beatle had to cancel Saturday’s “Out There Japan Tour 2014” appearance at the National Stadium in Tokyo, but says he should be well enough for Sunday’s scheduled concert and Monday’s makeup.

McCartney apologized to his fans, but said in a statement on the tour’s official Facebook page that doctors told him Saturday not to play that night.

Organizers said tickets for Saturday’s show are valid for Monday, but a refund will also be offered. The tickets start at 13,500 yen ($130).

McCartney is also scheduled to perform at Nippon Budokan hall in Tokyo on Wednesday, and Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka next Saturday.
