Man, 18, in custody after explosives found in Montreal home: police

MONTREAL – An 18-year-old man is in custody after Montreal police found homemade explosive devices inside a home in a north-end neighbourhood.

The city’s bomb squad took 15 hours to secure the area and dismantle the devices, using a special robot to do the work.

The devices were found in a triplex in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

Police erected a security perimeter Saturday morning and evacuated several homes in the area.

Residents were allowed to return early this morning.

Police say the man acted alone and believe he may have mental health problems.
