Craig Davidson among finalists for Ontario’s Trillium Book Award

TORONTO – Craig Davidson is among the finalists for this year’s Ontario Trillium Book Award.

The “Rust and Bone” author is a contender for his novel “Cataract City” (Doubleday Canada).

A total of six English-language and five French-language books have been shortlisted for the annual provincial prize, which recognizes Ontario-based writers.

The other English-language finalists are: “The Outside World” (Pedlar Press) by Barry Dempster; “Supplying Salt and Light” (McClelland & Stewart) by Lorna Goodison; “Nocturne” (HarperCollins Publishers) by Helen Humphreys; “This is War” (Playwrights Canada Press) by Hannah Moscovitch; and “Life Without Death and Other Stories” (Cormorant Books) by Peter Unwin.

Award recipients for both English and French works receive $20,000.

Scotiabank Giller Prize-winning author Austin Clarke is vying for the English-languge poetry award for “Where the Sun Shines Best” (Guernica Editions), alongside Adam Dickinson for “The Polymers” (House of Anansi Press) and Souvankham Thammavongsa for “Light” (Pedlar Press).

Two finalists are also up for the prize of poetry in French language.

Recipients of both English and French poetry works are awarded $10,000.

The finalists are slated to read from their nominated works on June 16 at the Toronto Reference Library.

The winners will be announced on June 17 in Toronto.
