In this aerial photo by Rajesh Kumar Singh, floodwaters cover low-lying areas of Allahabad, India. The area’s two major rivers, the Ganges and the Yamuna, are overflowing after heavy rains. People have been forced to move to higher ground in the city, and the government says about 12,000 people have been evacuated from surrounding villages. Floods occur in many parts of India during the monsoon season, which runs from June through September.
