NEW DELHI – A rail official says an express train slammed into a parked freight train in northern India and several people have been killed.
Railway Ministry spokesman Anil Saksena says the collision Monday caused six cars of the Gorakhpur Express passenger train to derail.
He says rescuers are working to free people trapped in the wreckage in an eastern district of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
