Looking for a forever home, Vernon SPCA pets of the week

Skully

Skully is a very special dog looking for a very special home. After being surrendered she had extensive surgery to have her cruciate repaired, because of this previous injury Skully will require a very specific home.

Prospective owners will need to be able to provide her with long term pain control with metacam, she will need to stay low activity for the duration of her life and especially for the next 6 months to a year until her leg is fully recovered. Owners will need to limit her jumping, exercise and activity. She cannot get in and out of large vehicles, or climb stairs too often. Skully would do best in a home with a fenced back yard and we would prefer her not to go to acreage where she can have free run as this may cause future pain/complications with her leg.

Skully is a beautiful English Mastiff that was brought to the SPCA by her owners after their daughter started having severe allergies. She grew up around the owners children and did great with them at all ages and stages of their lives. She is a big friendly giant and will make someone a great companion. She has a goofy personality and loves to be with her people, she knows her basic commands such as sit, stay, come and down.

Skully is a little bit weary and shy around men but with some gentle handling she will grow to trust them. Skully is apprehensive about new dogs; however, if the introduction is done properly and confidently we hope she will be able to learn to love other dogs. If you are interested in adopting this amazing gentle girl please contact the Vernon SPCA.
