TORONTO – Premier Kathleen Wynne says Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak should do the right thing and come clean that his so-called “Million Jobs Plan” is a “complete and utter fiction.”
She says he needs to admit that his party made mistakes in calculating the number of jobs they could create over eight years, which is the centrepiece of Hudak’s campaign.
The Tory leader says he stands by his party’s figures, despite a growing number of economists who are questioning the math behind his promise.
The Liberals have also poked holes in Hudak’s numbers, focusing on the possibility that the Tories misinterpreted information from a report they commissioned to back up their figures.
Wynne says the “Million Jobs Plan” is a fantasy and Hudak will have to cut even deeper to meet his promise to balance the budget in two years.
She says if he can’t find one independent economist who can back up his claims, then he should admit his mistake and re-draft his plan so they can have an honest discussion during the televised leaders’ debate on June 3.
