Germany: 2 German citizens die in Israel swimming accident

JERUSALEM – Germany’s Foreign Office says two German citizens have died in Israel in a swimming accident.

The Foreign Office did not elaborate, and Israeli police did not comment.

Israeli media reported that two German tourists aged 50 and 60 drowned in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of the Israeli city of Netanya on Wednesday.

According to the Times of Israel website, a German teenager shouted to an Israeli paramedic that his family was drowning, and the paramedic swam to his parents and brought them out of the water.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the parents but were unsuccessful, according to the report.
